Policy - Partners and Clients
Internally, at the headquarters level, OCHA works closely with regional offices, country offices and other OCHA field presences by providing policy advice, identifying emerging policy issues at country and regional levels, and translating them into concrete guidance and practical tools for use at the field level.
Externally, OCHA collaborates with the following bodies to promote the development and implementation of policy, and to advocate adherence to humanitarian principles:
- United Nations normative bodies, such as the Security Council, the Expert Group on the Protection of Civilians, the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)
- United Nations Secretariat departments and offices
- Operational agencies such as UNICEF, WFP and UNHCR
- Inter-Agency Standing Committee partners
- Other NGOs and humanitarian practitioners
- Member States – including traditional and non-traditional donors
- Intergovernmental regional organizations, such as the African Union
- Academic institutions, research centres and think tanks
