The Horn of Africa Conference 2023: High-level pledging event for the humanitarian response in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia

Event

On 24 May, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and the Governments of Italy, Qatar, the United Kingdom and the United States in collaboration with the Governments of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia, will convene a High-level Pledging Event to Support the Humanitarian Response in the Horn of Africa. Kery aims are to:

  • Highlight the capacity and commitment of humanitarian partners to implement lifesaving and life-sustaining assistance across the three countries.
  • Discuss the underlying factors affecting the Horn of Africa and explore opportunities and practical, long-term solutions, including how to promote and resource climate adaptation.

Agenda and format

The event will consist of four sessions:

9:00 – 9:45

Opening Segment moderated by Mr. Sherwin Bryce-Pease, Bureau Chief and Correspondent of SABC
