Atfaluna was a well-established organization in Gaza City. When the war broke out in October, all of its offices and assets were destroyed, and the staff was forced to flee. Now, after much struggle to rebuild, the organization is reborn from its ashes and provides support to children living with disabilities, especially children with hearing impairments. OCHA

“We do provide interventions to persons with and without disabilities so that they have equal access to all kind of interventions. Knowing that disability has other complex needs puts us in a challenging situation because we need to respond first to the complex needs for the disability and also, the need of the emergency situation like a child without a hearing aid who will be at risk. “We left our office in the Gaza Strip, which is now severely damaged due to all the bombings happened in Gaza City. So, we started from zero logistics. No office, no internet, no communication. And some other days we did not have the fuel to move our car to reach the families and reach out to beneficiaries.”

“The war affected me as everyone in the Gaza Strip. I've been displaced four, five times. First time, we got displaced from Gaza City, it was very horrific. I remember that night I couldn't sleep. Even if I was in what they call a “safe place” at my aunt’s house in Khan Younis City. But still, I couldn't forget the moment that we were evacuating from on my house.”
