Main Findings:

The flood disaster in Pakistan raised the combined requirements of humanitarian appeals and response plans in the MENACA region from US$2.91 billion in the second quarter to nearly $4.86 billion in the third quarter. This is a 67 per cent increase.

The United States is the largest single donor to the Pakistan Flood Plan followed by Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the European Commission and private individuals and organizations.

Countries in the MENACA region have reportedly provided $457.9 million in humanitarian aid in 2010, an increase from $140 million at the end of the second quarter. The top beneficiary countries are Pakistan, Haiti and Iraq. The largest donors in the region are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) allocated $30 million during the third quarter to the flood response in Pakistan alone. One fifth of CERF allocations worldwide have been absorbed by countries in the MENACA region so far in 2010.
