Un Humanitarian Chief Valerie Amos to visit Benin

WHAT: Mission to the Republic of Benin WHEN: 18-19 October 2012 WHERE: Cotonou, with visit to the field Valerie Amos, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, is scheduled to arrive on mission in Cotonou in the Republic of Benin on the 18 October. A field visit is planned for Friday 19 October.

Heavy floods have affected the north of Benin and other West African states since the end of August.

The visit takes place at the invitation of the President, H. E. Boni Yayi, who is also currently the Chairperson of the African Union.
