  • *8 health personnel have died of Ebola Virus Didease (EVD) since the outbreak of the epidemic.

  • Between 2 and 15 September, 40 cases of EVD have been reported in the area of Djera in Equateur Province in DRC, increasing the cumulative number of cases to 71 (see the above table for details).

  • According to the National Coordination Committee (NCC), the overall analysis of the epidemiological situation suggests that Ebola outbreak declared on August 24 in the area of Djera is under control. The number of cases is decreasing, the center of the epidemic is limited and the last suspected cases are from recorded and monitored contacts.

  • Active case finding is reinforced in the 20 high-risk-villages in the area of Djera; no death was recorded at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Losonia Building, Boulevard du 30 Juin, B.P. 7248 Kin1, Commune de la Gombe, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo www.rdc-humanitaire.net community level during the week from 8 to 14 September.

  • The transfer of cases to the treatment center takes time; about two to three days for the monitoring team to convince a suspected patient to go to the treatment center in Lokolia.

  • Two hotline numbers have been set up to allow the population to get information on the disease and ongoing efforts: 081 08 000 20 and 099 99 710 05. An additional hotline for information on the prevention of the EVD is available using Tigo: 119.

  • The contingency plan for Kinshasa has been finalized, but actions for its full activation are yet to be taken
