Overview

Tropical Cyclone Mal has intensified into a Category 3 system, located 140 km southwest of Viwa or 185 km West of Nadi. The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and Divisional Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs) are activated. According to NDMO there are now 182 active Evacuation Centres across the 4 divisions, and evacuees are currently being triangulated. A flash flood alert has been issued for flash flood-prone areas, small streams, and low-lying regions from Coral Coast to Navua; Lami/ Suva/ Nausori -Tailevu areas; Naitasiri province; Ovalau island; and now for the rest of Viti Levu. Potential impacts are flooding of roads, river crossings, and bridges in low-lying areas and floodplains.
