Response plan overview

In 2023, gang violence against the Haitian population continued to spread throughout the country, reaching isolated rural areas as the government’s presence eroded. Existing structural weaknesses were exacerbated by the growing number of attacks on social infrastructures (hospitals, schools, places of worship, etc.), the kidnapping of doctors and the forced displacement of several hundred teachers. The worsening security situation, the near-collapse of basic services, the impact of years of drought and natural disasters will leave 5.5 million Haitians highly vulnerable in 2024.
In 2024, humanitarians will target 3.6 million people, 12% more than in 2023, with a funding requirement of 674 million dollars.
