Fourteen years into the Lake Chad Basin crisis, the situation remains far from resolved, despite concerted efforts from governmental and humanitarian bodies, as well as organizations focused on development, peace, and stabilization. Currently, an estimated 11.1 million people across Cameroon's Far North region, Nigeria's states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe, Niger's Diffa region, and Chad's Lac region urgently require humanitarian assistance.

As of August, there has been a marked uptick in security incidents, especially in Cameroon's Far North, with 82 incidents recorded. Despite these challenges to access, 275 operational partners continue to deliver vital humanitarian aid across the affected regions. Compounding these issues, recent heavy rainfall has particularly impacted several towns in Nigeria's Jigawa province, resulting in over 2,000 demolished houses and affecting more than 47,000 individuals, including a minimum of 7,000 displaced persons.

The escalating violence and conflict further aggravate the situation, which not only claims lives but also inflicts severe damage on essential services, protective structures, and the socio-economic fabric of communities. This creates a cascading negative impact on people's lives and livelihoods. The surge in attacks on communities is increasingly compromising schools, health centers, public institutions, and markets, thereby further restricting access to vital services
