The Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) has so far allocated $56.6 million for life-saving interventions by funding 73 partners. In immediate response to the devastating drought conditions, the effects of conflict, cholera and floods in Somalia, the SHF has allocated funds through one standard and nine reserve allocations, complemented by three CERF allocations of $ 35 million, that enabled implementing partners' early action to save lives, alleviate suffering, reduce displacement and provide assistance. In 2023, the life-saving humanitarian response focuses on underserved and hard to reach areas. Inclusion of women and girls and people with disabilities is ensured in every allocation. About 98 per cent of all projects contribute in various ways to gender equality. Direct implementation through national NGOs and strengthening localization remained a priority as 69 per cent of partners funded are national NGOs. The SHF continues to demonstrate its agility, in rapidly supporting the response to the recurrent climatic shocks with support from donor countries that enable the Fund to benefit about 4.9M people under various interventions.
