Sudan Government and UN Sign $1billion Development Assistance Framework

Khartoum- July 2, 2012

The Government of Sudan and the United Nations signed today the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for the Republic of Sudan 2013-2016. The signing of this framework culminated joint efforts exerted by UN Agencies and all relative line ministries under the leadership of both the UN Country Team and the Ministry of International Cooperation.

The preparations for the UNDAF for Sudan started officially in January 2012, involving a three-day training workshop on programming principles in February 2012, in which 100 representatives from the Government, academic institutions, civil society and the UN representatives participated. The process concluded today with the signing of the final UNDAF document by her Excellency the Minister of International Cooperation, Ishraga Sayed Mohammed on behalf of the Government of Sudan and UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Ali Hassan Al-Za’tari on behalf of the UN System in Sudan.
