I am deeply concerned by yesterday’s escalation of hostilities in north-west Syria, with reports of attacks in Idleb Governorate, including impacting a marketplace.
Reports indicate multiple civilian deaths and injuries including children. I pass my deepest condolences to the families of those affected.
The UN continues to call on all parties to the conflict to take all necessary measures to ensure that civilians and civilian infrastructure are protected, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
