Global Call for Support and Action: Responding to El Niño: Technical Panel Discussions on the morning of 26 April 2016

Message from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to all Member States representations in New York and Geneva

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs presents its compliments to the Permanent and Observer Missions to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva. In connection with its invitation for the afternoon of 26 April, OCHA has the honour to invite Member States representations to two consecutive events that morning:

A Global Call for Support and Action: Technical Panel Discussions

Tuesday 26 April 2016 09.00 – 13.00 pm Palais des Nations, Room XIX, Building E

Two technical panel discussions will be held in the morning as part of the Global Call for Support and Action on El Niño. These discussions will tackle key issues around preparing and responding to El Niño and La Niña. All Member States and implementing organizations that share a commitment to respond to the devastating impact of El Niño are invited to attend. The meeting is open to all interested parties.

For your consideration, the two panel discussions will be as follows:

  1. From El Niño to La Niña and beyond: the need for preparedness, early action, and long-term resilience solutions – hosted by FAO with the support of UNDP.
  2. Humanitarian and Development Nexus: A Southern Africa Examination – hosted by WFP and UNICEF.

Registration will commence from 09:00. Session 1 will commence at 09:30.
