Kuwaiti Contribution to CERF Reaches $1 million for 2012

24 August 2012, New York: The Government of Kuwait donated US$450,000 to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) at a meeting with Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Catherine Bragg, in UN headquarters.

The Kuwait Permanent Representative to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Mansour Al-Otaibi, presented checks worth $450,000 to the Fund. With this additional contribution, the Government of Kuwait has given $1 million to CERF in 2012.

Mr. Al-Otaibi praised CERF, assuring that Kuwait would continue to support the CERF’s efforts to provide life-saving and timely support to people affected by humanitarian disasters worldwide.

The Assistant Secretary-General thanked the Government of Kuwait for their generous contribution and continued commitment to CERF. She also commended the growing role played by Kuwait to respond to humanitarian crises and underscored the importance of OCHA’s partnership with Kuwait on humanitarian action.
