Humanitarian needs are on the rise. Today, more people are affected by conflict and disaster, more frequently, and for longer than in previous decades. At the same time, humanity is facing new challenges such as climate change, rapid population growth and urbanization.

Co-chaired by Australia, New Zealand and UNOCHA, the Pacific will be the seventh of eight regional consultations ahead of the main summit in Istanbul in 2016. The Pacific meeting will bring together more than 140 delegates from across the region to discuss solutions to our most pressing challenges, build new partnerships, and shape the next chapter in humanitarian action.

Participants at the three-day meeting will be from governments, affected communities, regional organizations, UN agencies, Red Cross, NGOs, civil society, academia and the private sector. Media opportunities will include a press conference at the start of the meeting, access to opening and closing remarks, as well as interviews with key delegates on request.
