On 30 October, UN humanitarian chief Stephen O’Brien will begin a 10-day mission to four Gulf Cooperation Council states to discuss the humanitarian situation in the region with senior Government officials and humanitarian partners. The mission will also focus on building partnerships and garnering support for people affected by crises in the region and globally.

The Emergency Relief Coordinator is scheduled to speak at the Seventh Annual Conference for Effective Partnerships and Information Sharing for Better Humanitarian Action in Bahrain from 31 October to 1 November. The conference is the premier event promoting humanitarian partnerships in the region.

USG O’Brien is then due to travel to Doha (2-4 Nov), Kuwait (5-6 Nov) and United Arab Emirates (7-8 Nov) for a series of meetings with senior Government officials and humanitarian partners.

His public engagements will include lectures at the Centre for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies in Doha and at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the United Arab Emirates.
