The UN humanitarian chief, Mark Lowcock, will visit Yemen from 29 November to 1 December.
During the mission, he will see first-hand the world’s worst humanitarian crisis and the response that aid workers are implementing to ease people’s suffering under extremely difficult conditions.

Three-quarters of Yemen’s population require some form of humanitarian assistance and protection, including at least 8.4 million Yemenis who do not know where their next meal will come from. If the trajectory of the crisis does not change, up 12 million people could soon be entirely reliant on aid to survive.

Despite complex security and access challenges, humanitarian partners have more than doubled response efforts over the last three years, reaching eight million people with food aid every month in 2018. To meet the humanitarian needs across the country, US$2.3 billion has been mobilised so far, but more is required due to the deterioration in the situation.

Mr. Lowcock, whose last mission to Yemen was in October 2017, is scheduled to meet authorities in Sana’a and Aden, affected people, including displaced families, and humanitarian colleagues and other stakeholders.
