FUND OVERVIEW

As of June 2024, 14 members states have contributed or pledged US$39.2 million to the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) of which $35 million has been received. The YHF remains steadfast in its commitment to localization, working closely with national and local partners whenever possible. In 2023, 44 per cent of funds were directly allocated to 27 local partners (including 19 Women-led Organizations/Women’s Rights Organizations). For 2024, the Humanitarian Coordinator has set a target of 50 per cent - a five per cent increase from the previous year. This commitment aims to empower and enable local organizations to lead the humanitarian response efforts in Yemen, promoting sustainability and strengthening local capacity. Through targeted localization initiatives, the YHF is ensuring that the best-placed local actors, who are fully aware of community contexts, deliver humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable people, ensuring context-specific delivery modalities that consider protection and dignity, while also bolstering the capabilities of Yemen's local actors to address pressing challenges.

During the first six months, the YHF conducted 81 monitoring visits across Yemen to assess the progress of its projects. Additionally, the YHF team carried out 53 financial spot checks to assess the effectiveness of partners’ internal financial controls.
