WHAT: Mission to Zimbabwe

WHEN: 7-9 December 2009

WHY: To review the humanitarian situation in the country and get an overview of the linkage between humanitarian work and early recovery efforts. Ms Bragg is scheduled to meet senior government officials and humanitarian actors, and visit some humanitarian projects in the field. Ms Bragg is also expected to meet representatives of the donor community.

She will on Monday launch the 2010 Consolidated Appeal for Zimbabwe

Catherine Bragg, a national of Canada was appointed Assistant-Secretary-General and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 13 December 2007. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Bragg was the Director-General of the Humanitarian Assistance, Peace and Security Programme in the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) from 2004. She was the Chair of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Donor Support Group in 2007 and a member of the Advisory Group of the Central Emergency Response Fund in 2006-2007.
